Medicine for the soul.

“If I ever really felt depressed, I would just start putting on all my old records that I played as a kid, because the whole thing that really lifted me then still lifted me during those other times. It was good medicine for me, and it still does that for me when I put something on. Isn’t it wonderful that we’ve got all that good medicine? I think it’s got to be all part of our DNA, this mass communication through music. That’s what it is. It’s got to be, hasn’t it? Music is the one thing that has been consistently there for me. It hasn’t let me down.” - Jimmy Page on the power of music told to TheScotsman in 2010.

Jimmy Page has never really been a talker because most of his talking extends through his music but when he does speak, he speaks truth. Music is medicine. It helps detox our minds and refresh our souls. It enhances our emotions and gives us hope. It broadens our senses and becomes our connection to the world around us. Being a musician, I would say that if I could achieve anything, it would be to heal someone with my art.

On a side note:

Our album is ALMOST finished! We are very happy with how it is turning out! All artwork is done by members of the band, in particular, Liz Degen (drums), Chris Salucci (bass) and Matt Donnelly (guitar, vocals). And soon it will be available to you! We’ll keep you posted.

Also, we have a couple of shows coming up!

Monthly All-Acoustic Show at SoHo Playhouse on October 14th at 10pm, $5 to get in! Should be a great time.

Don Audio Showcase Session at the Brickhouse Brewery and Restaurant on November 5th, $5 cover and we go on at 10pm!

Hope to see you there!

The Huron Club/ SoHo Playhouse

The Huron Club/ SoHo Playhouse has graciously allowed Everything Grey to play every second Friday of the month for the passed few months. This month’s show (the month of Sept), however, we will be playing THIS Friday, September 2nd at 10pm to 12pm, $5 to get in. This venue has become home to us during these passed few months. They’ve welcomed us with open arms and open ears and allowed us to develop our music into something very different and very real. The candlelit tables sooth the atmosphere while our music echos clearly, bouncing off each atom at a time. We always enjoy the Huron Club because it’s a time to be with family and friends, and where we can TRULY be ourselves, out in the open, and as vulnerable as possible. Come on down, grab a drink, sit back and relax while we serenade you with our sweet melodies. ;)

Ollie’s Point

Hey all! Considering this is a new blog and that this is the first post of this new blog, I would say giving information about a show would make it a particularly exciting start. Everything Grey will be playing Ollie’s Point in Amityville,NY tomorrow (August 19th) at 8pm, tickets are $10, 21+.

The day before a show always has me in an anxious state because there’s so much that you can’t expect from how it will go. We have practice tonight in Lindenhurst. Our practices are usually productive, especially when it’s a rehearsal for a show. I’d have to say that our band members really all have the same focus. We love music, we love playing music, we love sharing music. Plain and simple. When we get the chance to express our love, we take it, we prepare and we rock. We’ll be playing with Two Cent Sam, which should be a lot of fun! They’re a great band (I’ve been listening to their music) and they’ve been so gracious to give us a spot in their CD Release show. Speaking of CD release, our album is on the up and ups, almost ready to be released as well! We’ve got the mixing done, now all there needs to be done is mastering and then mass producing. Hopefully we’ll be able to share it with you within a month. I’m really happy with how the recordings came out so far. They don’t sound too overproduced and well, it sounds like us, which is the main reason why we picked the studio and the engineer we did. Other than that, there’s nothing much else to say except that I anticipate tomorrow’s show with the hope that the Rock Gods and Goddesses give us their blessing (which I’m sure they will). Toodles!

~Jacquie (vocals, tambourine enthusiast)

Everything Grey embodies a modern sound of 1960’s rock/folk/blues music centering on vocal harmonies and powerful instrumental arrangements in the vein of Fleetwood Mac, CSNY, and The Allman Brothers. This blog will be a glimpse of what a group of musicians do to become an influential and contending player in the music world.
